This particular piece has been used and has some significant wear, but its price reflects the damage done.

In my experience, cardboard isn't great for heavily used furniture. I bought a Gehry Wiggle stool a few months ago, and it's already showing signs of rough use. Kids and guests just don't realize it's fragile. I'd only get the cardboard desk if I were sure no one would ever put anything heavy or spill coffee on it. It's just not a forgiving material.
