Corbusier 3 Color Chaise Lounge for $510: This is an Italian-made knock-off, but still a sexy beast. It would be deliciously unexpected basking in a sunny, plant-filled bay window.
•
Rare Herman Miller Drafting Stool Shell Chair for $305: Shell chairs are becoming a little ubiquitous, but this one seems special. A Charles and Ray Eames design for Herman Miller, it has a green vinyl seat atop white plastic, giving it a two-tone, scuptural quality. It "swivels, rolls, and raises," turning a bar-height table or counter into a work space.

ACQUA REFELCTIONS hand-crafted MIRROR & FRAME for $59: Brghten up your standard-issue rental medicine cabinet by mouting a colorfully-framed mirror on it. This Indian mirror is crafted from wood and nickel-plated brass and hand-painted.

Castro Convertible Coffee / Dining Table for $200: Cool-looking and utilitarian, we're fond of these 1950's Castro Convertible tables, which come up on eBay every now and then, oddly mostly in Florida. They usually go for $350+, so this one's still a bargain. Great for small homes: crank the lever to raise the top, and turn your living room into a dining room.
That mirror will be PERFECT tacked to my hallway door. I'm painting the door (boring old solid-core replacement) lime green, and have been looking for a way to enliven it. Thanks for including this!
I purchased a Corbusier chaise from DesignClassicsMiami, but directly from their website: www.designclassics.it I am very pleased with it. I couldn't afford the original so I decided on a knock-off, but most of them are Chinese made and cut corners. One of the things that impressed me about this one were the straps holding up the hide instead of springs. Another small detail is the crossbars in the base holding up the frame. In this, as well as the original, the bars are held up by a plate bolted in three places. On the Chinese ones the crossbars have one bolt running through the middle of them. Last year DWR was selling italian made knockoffs until late fall when they started carrying the originals. I believe this one to be on-par with the DWR knockoff.
As far as dealing with Design Classics, I explained they type of coloring I was looking for - more brown, and about equal black/white. They open each box when it comes in from Italy and check what the hide coloring so they minimize returns from people that aren't happy with them. The shipping took about a week longer than they said, but what's a week?
You can trust these folks, and they do a really good job. Now if they would come out with a Womb Chair.....
Tim Jones, can you encourage them? About the Womb Chair? I want a Womb Chair so badly but know I'll never be able to afford an original. I believe in supporting designers and would buy a real one if I could, but with the ottoman I'm looking at over $3000 for the set.
Tim - I know you aren't actually connected with that company and you can't make them sell a well-made Womb Chair reproduction, just making chit chat. Enjoy your chaise!
I wonder if the owner of a working Castro Convertible Coffee/Dining Table would contact me. I'm trying to determine if the table I have is repairable? It won't stay up and I'm not sure how to get the top out. Thanks, Diane
