We remember there being some debate about the quality of Richter Furniture on AT:LA, but we like the great lines of this Modern Designer Sofa... Excellent Deal!. (Any AT:SFers have either a good or bad experience with Richter Furniture?)

Howdy - is there a link for info on the sofa? It seems to not be working. Thx!
Sorry, Catherine, fixed the link!
I have owned a sofa by Richter for 5 years and am very pleased with it. I minimized that sagging that generally occurs with sofas over the years by requesting a long bench-style cushion (rather than two side-by-side) and by getting a tufted back, with no throw pillows. The sofa still looks neat and almost-new, especially after turning the cushions. I did not, however, have a great experience with the company. The sofa I received had a small blemish (or stain) in the fabric and I requested replacement of it. 8-12 weeks later, the replacement sofa arrived, looking somewhat like a patchwork quilt (very messy piping with apparent seams, etc.). Did they have an intern make it to avoid the cost?? I rejected this replacement sofa and took a discount from the retailer instead. While I think they make a great, high quality product, they don't have the best customer service and ordering times can vary greatly.
I bought a Richter sofa from Zonal on Fillmore. I had to return it THREE times because the cushions buckled and they installed the fold-out bed incorrectly. Within 2 months the fabric (poly-wool flannel)pilled and within 6 months the foam cushions compressed to half their original size. I've had the sofa for two years and I'm looking for a replacement. It looked gorgeous for about 2 weeks though.
i work for a large national furniture store that used to do business with richter, and i can tell you that the design is great, but beyond that, forget it. its been a customer service nightmare for most of their products we sold, and by the way the company was run and how they handled their clients, its no surprise they went bankrupt. i know that pottery barn, crate and barrel, as well as william sonoma home all carried their upholstery, so if your buying, just ask, and try to avoid them if you can..id pass on this sofa, too
stay away from Richter ... in addition to some serious quality issues with the product, the Richter guys there are crooks. Braden Richter, the owner, is notorious for screwing people out of deposits and not standing behind his product - he basically runs a sweat shop near downtown LA, uses illegals who can't complain without risking deportation. Richter is big league slime.
