Scavenger: SF Materials Craigslist Finds

120508-sfcraigslist.jpg Do you ever look in the "Materials" section of Craigslist? We do! You can find great remnants or raw materials just waiting for a project. Check out some of our favorite finds below (and what we'd do with them!).

  • Custom Cut Board Feet From A Redwood: There has to be a kitchen table or at least side table in here somewhere. Maybe you don't want to go that large and just want a simple shelf somewhere. Chances are they are willing to work with you!
  • Giant Bag Of Packing Peanuts: These could come in handy for shipping Christmas presents or even making a funky light fixture.
  • 1x3 Fence Boards: These would make a great picnic table or if you don't have the space would refloor your outdoor balcony space!
  • Antique Iron Wheel: For those who are daring this could be turned into a great chandelier. For those who are less adventurous it can simply be put on the wall or propped against a fence in the garden.
  • Kitchen Window: This looks like a perfect candidate for a mini-greenhouse. Add a few simple pots and you have a bug free, critter free environment!

You can do more than just a project, you can do a whole bathroom (tile, sink & tub) or kitchen (cabinets and flooring) or even outfit your living room with a mantle.

I had to rebuild part of my front porch. The Materials section was the source of my column posts and the beautiful slate tile that covers the old cement. Love that listing!
