Scavenger: TANSU for $350

scav6-19.jpgHere's what looks like a great TANSU for a good price. But we're not experts on tansus. Hey, wende in san francisco, what do you think?

It's Meiji-era or meant to appear to be, so I have NO CLUE about it. If it's genuinely old, $350 is a great price for that size. But I have no idea how to tell, and Meiji tansi are the ones most likely to be reproduced new. (Heck, for a nice-looking chunk of wood with drawers, it's still a good price, regardless of provenance.)

I have Taisho-era (1920s), which are almost modernist in their simplicity. Here's someone else's, but it looks like mine. http://www.jcollector.com/stores/hosoge/items/450325/picture1.jpg
