You know, someone from Scavenger should cover 1st Dibs. Last week (and it may still be available), four reupholstered original Saarinen chairs were offered for $450. In my mind, that beats a small desk and chair from West Elm for $200.

However, the real deal (if you had the money) was the sterling silver 60 piece flatware set designed by Gio Ponti for $4,500. You're never going to find again more beautiful sterling silver from a world famous designer at a price like that.

Unless, of course, the economy gets much, much worse.

But really. Cover 1st Dibs. If you can get the real thing for less than the reproductions, why are you buying reproductions?
