apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Good Questions: Identify This Barstool?

9-8-barstools.jpgHi ATSF, I love this barstool but have no idea who makes it! It’s driving everyone in my office crazy . Any ideas? I’d love to use it in a project but can’t find it anywhere. Thanks,

-Kiko

They look Thonet-derived....

Agree with Shannon... since the turn of the (last) century, the bentwood chair made famous by Thonet influenced the form of almost all bistro chairs in France and parts of Europe right up to the post-war era. As far as I know, this is simply one of those generic, ubiquitous post-Thonet bentwoods in barstool form -- probably produced by local furniture-makers who deal in traditional, classic forms rather than by a known manufacturer with design house behind it (hence the difficulty tracking it down).

Part-time design is correct - Its made by one of the offshoot companies of the Thonet conglomerate. Either Ton.cz listed above, or Gebruder-Thonet out of italy (you'll have to google the web address) Definitely not locally made.
