If you aren't able to find the name of the maker, you might consider the Covey Model 6 as an alternative:http://www.unicahome.com/p39289/covey-model-6-stools-by-jeff-covey.html

This is similar (although the legs are different).

Looks very similar to the Tom Dixon stool for Cappellini, but not an identical match.

Closer than the previously-suggested Jamaica stool, though.

Personally, I prefer the legs on the Dixon stool to the stools in your photo, but being of Cappellini manufacture they are of course some mighty expensive legs.

would be curious myself as it has an interesting footrest.

any other suggestions for stools with similar delicate wire framed bases that are architecturally interesting?

A few more options that rhyme reasonably well, even if they're not exact matches:

The Lammhults Mini
The Tonon Yoko

And for pinstripeprincess, some other stools that have interesting wire bases:

The Fjord stool by Moroso.
The Driade Zago by Ron Arad for Driade. So beautiful, and so very expensive.

I think I just saw these at a Bed Bath and Beyond in the Chicago area. Or something really close to it.
