Good Questions: What Chairs to Go With a Cherner Table?

10-30-cherner table.jpgAT:SF, What chairs to go with this [Cherner] table? I'm purchasing this table soon and need some ideas for the best chairs (4). My initial thought is the white eames eiffel or fiberglass modernica chair but I'd like other options to think about as well. Thanks!

I'd do the saarinen side chair http://hivemodern.com/products/?view=sub_product&sid=1266&cid=2&cid2=104
in white or off-white with either dark wood or metal legs -- depending on the what the rest of your decor is like.

What about Louis Ghost chairs or Bertoia side chairs or the Saarinen Tulip Armless chairs? all found in dwr.

Why not some vintage Danish Modern teak chairs such as these?

The Arne Jacobsen Series 7 chair is awesome. I would choose a lighter wood tone to go with the dark table. But even the colored ones would look killer, especially if you chose a few different colors. I think you can get them violet, green, orange, and red in addition to the wood tones.

I always dig the contrast of a wood table with sleek metal chairs.

I am with besf something simple like Danish vintage Modern keep the lines consistant. I like contrasting only when its done right and not for the sake of contrasting which can look like a ball gown with white tennis shoes.

I see bentwood Thonet style or Breuer chairs as well.

Beautiful table. I would take into account the width of the seat and legs of the chairs. Even a little too wide and it's gonna be really tight between those table legs.
That being said, I too like the Arne Jacobsen Series 7.

This is such an elegant, simple piece. Why not mix up various chairs in a color (or two) that works for your place?

What an elegant table! I think you can use a wide number of chairs to go along with this table because it's clean lines and chic simplicity are classic.

I like all of the suggestions mentioned so far - I think any would work well.

Here are a few more suggestions: (1) Simple leather or upholstered parsons chairs in nearly any color with dark legs (2) a klismos-styled chair in a dark wood or painted a dark color light midnight blue (3) a Panton "S" chair in white or yellow. (4) an Eames eiffel styled molded chair in a dramatic or playful color (5) the Risom chair with navy or dark red straps, or (6) a Bellini chair or similarly styled chair.

I think it would be hard for you to make a mistake with whatever you choose with this beautiful table.

so many possibilities...bertoia wire chairs (in chrome, black, or white), jacobsen series 7 or ants (or any of the more affordable knockoffs at room and board, crate and barrel, dwr, west elm), eames eiffels, marcel breuer (many options) or mies van der rohe brno, or even eero saarinen #71.

this table works with so many choices. enjoy.

I really like the Cherner table with Knoll's Risom side chairs.
Knoll have also just released the Nakashima Straight Chair, which would look really cool too! You can see them here:

these Thonet chairs could work...

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/fuo/899732451.html

Or, since the tables works with so many different chairs, why not have 4 different pairs of chairs, all in the same colour? Say, 2 Herman Czech armchairs, 2 Saarinen Series 7 chairs, 2 Saarinen side chairs, 2 IKEA Norvald chairs, all in white (or maybe red, or black...)...
