Inside is a furniture store in Hayes Valley that (amongst other things) is the exclusive northern California retailer of Modernica, the furniture company that has the rights to produce some of the most iconic mid-century modern pieces on the market. The shop is owned and operated by a husband and wife team, Emmett and Deanna Marrujo. They opened up shop almost 8 years ago! Emmett and Deanna also provide a platform for a local artists and designers to showcase their work. Our favorite part? Everything in the shop is made right here in the USA, and mostly in California (in the Mission!)!
The nice thing about Modernica is that (unlike the Vitra reproductions you see at DWR) their Eames reproductions use fiberglass, not plastic. Just like the originals!
Inside is the exclusive retailer for factory1 design studio, a husband and wife furniture team that operates out of the Mission district.
The lighting and non-upholstered items are available in a matter of days (upholstered pieces are 6-8 weeks) or right off the floor. The Bubble lamps shown above start at $239. The most popular selling Bubble lamp is the Medium Saucer and it retails for $299.
In addition to Bubble lamps, Inside also carries a line from Los Angeles (designed and manufactured there!) that features customizable Sputnik pendent lamps. The ones you see above are just an example of some of the many ways you can design your lamp. They're solid brass, not plastic (which means they'll last a lot longer than the competition)!
(See our original post here.)
Its nice to see places that sell items that are made right here at home instead of someplace in Asia.

Great shop and great people. I live in Memphis and have purchased much of my furniture from Emmett and Deanna. Make sure and stop in on Sunday afternoons for champagne and cool west coast jazz.
