Laura Rittenhouse Studio Chair/Table

2006_12_15_chairtable.jpg
A chair that morphs into a table reminds us that chair-ness is a very natural extenion of table-ness. What a great idea for space-saving, multi-tasking furniture. We can't believe we haven't already come across it.

San Luis Obispo wood artisan Laura Rittenhouse has realized the Platonic chair/table combo in a high swanky style. Her Chair/Table is made from macore and includes storage space. The chair back and seat slide easily into tabletop mode, and the slats double up to lend the whole thing solidity.

$1,200, by commission. Contact Laura Rittenhouse through her website.

Hahahaha for the heidegger reference. ;)

This is interesting, but I'm wondering about the sense of too much "interesting" furniture - if you have several pices of 'interesting' furniture, does it coalesce into a style? Or is it just several interesting pices of furniture?
