Anywhere Sofa from Urban Outfitters

5-12-urbansofa.jpg5-12-urbansofa2.jpg
We envy people who have dedicated guest rooms, but like many urban dwellers we simply don't have the space. Despite that fact, we have regular over night guests and hauling the futon from the deep recesses of the closet is a bit of a pain. Traditional sofa beds are heavy and you always risk the "bar in the middle of the back" problem, which is why we like the idea of the Anywhere Sofa.

Folding out to three "high-density foam cushions" there is no bar to dig into your back, and while in sofa form you have a great looking modern sofa in a goes-with-anything charcoal grey or a fun bright red.

Has anyone tried this sofa out yet?

$280 plus $115 shipping charge at Urban Outfitters.

Ikea has a similar sofa for $129. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70087108

Oh and it was a nice sofa for the price, but really small at just 50" something inches in length.

This is exactly what I am looking for. Sofa bed usually opens the other way and I am looking for one that opens exactly like this one. I too would be curious to read the feeback of someone who tried it.
I also like this one from Door Store, better design and a red a little easier on the eye. It is also modulable which is fun. Has anyone tried this one?

i'm not *wild* about the design, but it is good looking and convenient enough... and the price is right. i like the look better than the SOLSTA from Ikea.... if my office were a little bit bigger it'd fit in great there.

I have the IKEA veresion -- two of them. I had them facing each other with a oval coffee table in between. Just the other night I relocated one to the foot of my queen size bed for a near perfect fit. I wish Ikea had the red -- that's the accent color in my home.

I had a cheap foam sofa like this in my dormroom while I was in the USAF - When it was new the foam was firm but after a few months the foam broke down and you'd sink deep down into it.

I'm looking for an attractive little sofabed/convertible sofa for my den, but I certainly wouldnt' waste my money on another one of these...

Good to know bepsf. It does look a little cheap.
Btw, the correct link to the sofa I was mentioning earlier is: http://www.doorstorefurniture.com/images/b_lounge_display.jpg

Pier 1 has sold sofas like these for years (okay, maybe not so sleek, but the same fold out foam design). I had one for my very first apartment by myself. Seconding bepsf... the foam will start to break down, which results it the seat part creeping forward as you sit on it. This started in the second year I had the sofa, and it was trash by year 4. It would be great if it isn't your main sofa, but otherwise be prepared to replace in a few years.

triple the comment. I had one like this with some friends and the front edge of the foam was destroyed within a couple years. The seat would sort of creep forward and dump you slowly onto the floor as if it didn't like you. It was sort of sad.

Oh my God! My aunt and uncle had one of those in the early '80's! My sister, cousins and I played endless games in that thing. We all crawl into in and then fold the bed part on top of us like a fort.

Eliane, I have the chairs (I opted for the separate chairs that fold out into a twin bed each, rather than the sofa) from DoorStore. They are surprisingly comfortable to sit or sleep on.
