AT:SF, I am looking to buy a new sofa and would love some guidance! I was looking at the Metro from Room and Board. Not sure if it is everything I think it is! :) Anything helps, thanks!

Maria,
There's one comment on the Metro Sofa here.
Anyone else?

I helped a pal choose that sofa with the angled sectional for his new place.
It's very squishy-comfortable but if you're a neat-freak you'll find yourself fluffing and straightening the cushions all the time - and the angled corner cushion is impossible to flip over for even wear - However the frame seems well constructed and the sewing is well done.

I can't comment on that sofa in particular, but I'm convinced that those angled sofas are going to look incredibly dated really quickly. (Unless you don't mind all your guests post-2010 saying "mmm, bought your couch in 2008, huh?")

I don't have the sectional (I got the sleeper sofa), but I agree that it's really comfortable without being really mushy. Squishy but I haven't felt the need to fluff; mine doesn't leave dents for whatever reason. It looks great and is very easy to clean...I've gotten lots of compliments.

Ok - I can't say anything about that sofa because while, yes, it is possible that it could be dated, it's also possible that you have the perfect spot for it and it will look funky for years to come.
Re: Room and Board - every dealing I have had with them has been fabulous. Their customer service is timely and friendly. So you're in good hands, there.
Good luck!

I am not sure if by "looking" you mean in the catalog. There are lots of great furnishings you can purchase online but a sofa is one that you should really sit it. See how soft it is, does it feel solid when you plop down in it? Sofas are a big investment and one that doesn't work for you is the most expensive of all! Good luck:-)

I don't have any particular experience with that sofa, but I do own two sofas from Room & Board and they're both great. They have the integrated hookups to connect their sectional pieces (unlike some companies), and the quality is great.
As for style, I'd be cautious purchasing one that has an angled chaise like that. For one, the length typically isn't as long as the "straight" chaise, so you won't be able to stretch out as much. You may also have issues placing the sofa if you move to a new place (and the angle is on the wrong side).
My 2 cents.

I have the chair & ottoman and love it. It's held up very well.

I can't really comment either because I haven't seen the sofa in person...however it looks very similar to a piece I saw at Bob's furniture.

We just ordered the Metro 88" queen sleeper a couple of weeks ago and have another month or so wait since we did it in a custom fabric. We looked at a TON of sofas before we settled on the metro and we think we made the right decision.

I've had the sectional for about 8 months and I love it. I spent my last week of pregnancy on it--even sleeping there since I couldn't lie down anymore. Super comfy and SO easy to clean. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the down comes out of the cushions and pokes me, but that happens with anything down-filled. If I could go back, I'd get the fill without the down. Other than that, it was a great purchase.

We just bought the metro about 3 months ago and love it. We have an angled wall/bay window that it hugs perfectly. I don't know if it will be dated in 2010, I guess i will have to wait and see what AT says.

we have the kendall sectional (LOVE, so comfy) from room & board so i can't comment on this couch specifically but i will say i've never dealt with better customer service reps in my life. i was stunned. and it led me to then order a tv stand from them as well. and that experience was so good that i'm damn near hooked on them.

what does "all I think it is" mean? style? quality?
I can speak for room & board quality -- you can't get much better, although you can spend more for a designer name. I love all of the several pieces I bought this year for their both style and quality. Yes, you can buy cheaper quality and pay less, but you can't do much better for a life-time investment in furnishings. I'm 40, so I think I'm old enough now to say "lifetime" in reference to furniture purchases. :-)

i have the metro sleeper for a few months now and i love it. it's the perfect height for different kinds of people (i had a low sofa previously and it was struggle for some of my older visitors to stand up from), and the fabric is reallllllyyy easy to keep clean.
and i second the notion that r&b has _excellent_ customer service. i would say GO FOR IT.

apparently I'm in the minority, but I've had terrible service from R&B and I won't shop their anymore.
Also, I can't tell if that's a microfiber fabric, but mine collects cat hair like crazy and it's hard to vacuum off. If you have pets, use one of those sticky rollers.

How do you feel about your R&B Metro sleeper purchase now? Thanks!
