We're always amazed at people's creativity, no more so than when it comes to refurbishing items. To us sometimes a funky old sofa is just that, but to many -including the good folks at Metro Sofa - it is so much more. Looking through their gallery of repurposed sofas and chairs will have your mind bubbling with ideas next time you hit the flea markets. Check out more photos after the jump.
We love the disregard for the typical fabrics and colors one usually sees with these older, ornate styles of furniture.
And while it might inspire you to go out there and find your own piece to reupholster, it could also leave you pining for one all ready to go from the site. Well, that's okay - you can contact Metro Sofa for pricing and availability.

I think the one on top would look so much better if the frame were painted a glossy black.

love the chair best, but support the general direction of the pieces....

I prefer the first and third (and I don't find the original gilding on the first settee offensive)...
...but I'm not such a fan of the contrasting fabrics on the third - maybe if the back and sides were upholstered in one fabric and seat and back the other I'd like the combination better?

Aha! I asked about 'French Provincial' sofas a while back -- and it seems that yes, this kind of neo-baroque funquiness can in fact be stylish.
Nice to know. Chair's my favorite, too.
