11-5 Clover House Logo.pngIt’s always a lucky day at Clover House. Throws, lamps and home accessories form the complement of wares at a shop where the real highlights are the plants, high-quality body products and a fantastic selection of printed paper goods by local designers.

Owner Tonia Feinstein used to be a buyer at City People’s Mercantile, and that store’s influence is reflected in the selection of indoor potted plants displayed in a corner serving as a small nursery. Feinstein notes that there isn’t a gift shop in the neighboring Pan Pacific Hotel in the Westlake retail complex shared by Clover House, and that awareness informs how she positions the store.

The quaint gift shop format is disarming yet deceptive however, for here you’ll not find cheesy, cheap stopgap gifts, but instead understated quality evident in the notecards and calendars by Herman Yu, rich letterpress notepads by Dauphine Press, and Dani bath and body products. Plus, they carry those flower branch lights everyone is nuts about.

The result is a selection of accessories that would warm up a traveler’s hotel room and be worth packing away to take home, or make a gift that no one would be able to tell came from the gift shop next to the hotel.
