We happened by Great Stuff one evening while on our way through Georgetown in Seattle. The bright storefront was like a siren in the otherwise dark industrial district, which is gaining popularity with the art set, but is still very gritty. A perfect backdrop for this store full of statement pieces, like big old signs and huge tables, even a big corinthian column. You wont find anything ordinary here.
One of the coolest things the shop offers are these lights, which are made from old mercury lamp shades and attached to a weight and ball mechanism. The lights adjust and stay at whatever length you pull them to, and were typical over old-school drafting tables and in laboratories.
Owner Kirk Albert is a native of Tennessee, and sources many of his pieces from the south. While the store just opened in November, it's is an expansion of his stall at the Pacific Galleries Antique mall — he's long been the go-to guy for young professionals with hip, expansive loft space in need of a defining focal point.
One thing you wont find in Kirk's shop is much neon: as in line as it may seem with the style of the store, he finds neon to be garish, and believes a piece should speak for itself without needing to be plugged in. We couldn't agree more.

I would like to know where oversized alphabets (similar to the ones in the storefront) might be procured. I would prefer a more modern font. Any help out there? Thanks.
