For a guy with big ideas, Edgar Blazona thinks small. I like him because he let me put one of his tiny Modern Dwellings in my book Haven and drove several hours on 101 to help out with the photo shoot.
The Berkeley-based designer’s prefabs can be used for everything from backyard yoga studio to minimalist weekend retreat. They’ve appeared in Dwell and made the MetHome Design 100. You can build one from Home Depot materials for about $15,000. A 100 square foot version created for Ready Made, pictured here, will only set you back $1,500.

You nailed it. What innovative ideas. The first pic hooked me absolutely. It is all so charming: simple structure, you can do it yourself-ish, they aren't wildly expensive and you can build to your needs, sizewise. This is living.

Materials from Home Depot will cost 15 grand?

I'm pretty sure the 15k is for the 280 sq.ft. model with a complete kitchen and bathroom.
