Fire-King Mugs

(Welcome again to Lily, one of the finalists in our San Francisco Blogger search.
Comment away!)

On a recent trip to Tokyo we were delighted by the bright 60's-style mugs that seemed to be cropping up in all the cutest boutiques. It turns out they are Fire-King mugs from the Anchor Hocking brand (the same company that makes the "Jadite" Martha Stewart covets so), and were made right here in the US!

Despite their growning popularity in Japan, you can still hunt them down on eBay, or locally at the Alameda Antique Fair or Alemany Flea Market. Just be prepared for a bidding war if we're around!

My parents had those white ones... front and center!

    Who knew they'd be classics.

I've been collecting Fire-King since I was in college, when a boyfriend got me hooked. Love the turquoise blue and the endless array of ramekins!

I scored 12 white ones for a few bucks last summer when a local resturant closed. I love them

I've been collecting fire king mugs for years too. Weirdly enough, my favorites are the McDonalds "Good Morning" mugs that they used to actually use in the restaurants instead of disposable paper ones! My guess especially love to use them when they stay over.
