Timeless Treasures is a hidden gem on sleepy Sutter Street in San Francisco's Fillmore district. It's embarrassing for me to admit, but this past weekend was my first trip to this quirky little shop (Timeless Treasures has been open for business for over eight years!). The shop's slogan is "...because you love vintage home furnishings and gifts with whimsy, comfort and style." That's definitely true, but what really stands out are the collections of antique letters and numbers.
Joan, the owner, travels internationally quite often to find these unique and interesting letters and numbers. Timeless Treasures also has an amazing collection of jewelry and cards by local designers that are very reasonably priced. On my visit, I spotted over a dozen necklaces that were under $35.
Timeless Treasures has a fantastic collection of vintage globes. The black water glove (left) is one of my all time favorites.
Just like letters and numbers, the shop is also a great resource for finding vintage (mostly imported!) signs.
This is just a very small example of the what seems like endless options for letters at Timeless Treasures. You could seriously spend all day picking through all of them to create the perfect combination for yourself or for a gift. [Editor's note: We had to move the photo of the letters above the jump.]
This piece gives a good example of how varied the shop's inventory seems to be. Definitely check it out if you've got a home that mixes different design styles.
P.S. The store's website has a very insightful blog that features photos of customers own creations along with new merchandise. All the posts are written by the store owner and pack a lot of design inspiration!

Must get vintage letters! That's a cool idea, wish that place was closer...

I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and wanted to spell my son's name out with these letters. After surfing the 'net, I found this store and contacted them. Joan e-mailed me 3 or more selections spelling his name with all the letters numbered and then let me piece together the choices I liked best and sent them to me very quickly. Awesome store, selection, and her service was amazing! With baby #2 on the way, I'll be contacting her again this summer to buy another "name".

Thank you, Sally, for this blog. If I weren't in NY I'd drop by Timeless Treasures today after reading it. I like that you included info about the owner as well as about the shop. The whole thing was very satisfying to read, and you've got my vote!

I live in San Francisco, this store sounded great and I had to check it out for myself. Wow, the necklaces are so delicate and interesting, Sally was spot on. Odd little shop, my favorite kind.
