apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

SF Good Questions: Next AT City Site?

4-1-map.jpgAT:SF, What will be the next AT city site?

-Joe

4-1-champoeg.jpg

Joe,

We get asked this question several times a week. So, after a lot of debate, we've decided to forget about DC and Boston. Instead we've decided to launch AT:Champoeg.

DC catches the scent of the South from across the Potomac. It's not a perfect substitute but it's not a bad place to report on VA from.

Also, a geographic map is one thing, but lets look a map based on apartment density. I'll see what I can scrounge up...

Isn't it nice that it is finally April? Perhaps we'll have some real spring here in the Midwest. I'm rather sad that you didn't choose Burlington, Iowa. It is a lovely town with many cultural amenities and a fine selection of locally grown corn, soybeans, and pork.

Philadelphia! Philadelphia! Philadelphia! We have lots of beautiful homes from the 18th to the 21st centuries, a great art scene, 2 IKEAs, a rigorous Craigslist community, "fabric row" (blocks of fabric stores), and enthusiasm! Although we're close to NYC geographically, we're not NYC. We've got our own style. Give us a shot!

Twin Cities - Minneapolis/St. Paul

Why:
Guthrie Theater, Jean Nouvel, Pritzker Prize
Walker Art Center, Herzon & de Meuron
Weisman, Frank Gehry
Minneapolis Library, Cesar Pelli

BluDot, Minneapolis
FlatPak, Minneapolis

20/21, Wolfgang Puck, Minneapolis
Jean Georges Vong., Chambers Restaurant
Several James Beard winners

Clean air, great river and lakes, and Money magazine named the Twin Cities the "Best Place to Live in the Midwest." Popular Science declared Minneapolis to be country's "Top Tech City." Travel Leisure declared "Minneapolis is cooler than ever."

And we're smart. Both Minneapolis and St. Paul are ranked first and third in America’s Most Literate Cities.

Steeped in Southern tradition, with the funky musical twist and a recently bustling group of transplants thanks to the Nissan of North America headqtrs move from California to Nashville, as well as some other recent large business' headqtrs relocation, I think it'd be a great addition to the AT community!
