Another Source for Cubits

Until recently the only place you could buy Doron Lachisch's Cubits translucent modular shelving (which we've blogged about here, here, here, here, and here) was DWR. But Smart Furniture is now selling them through their website under a private label, "Smart Cubes."

Smart Furniture ships fast and for free, which brings their prices right in line with DWR's. They key difference seem to be that they will work with you to custom design your Smart Cubes in a way that fits your space, at no extra cost.

I'm sorry, but $198 for the smallest set of nondescript cubes seems over the top. A lot of times, I see posts for outrageously priced items, but can still admire the quality of form and material as I bemoan the cost. This is just plastic, my friends. Alas, I'm not Benjamin Braddock; I've already moved beyond the joy of plastic for its own sake.

I agree - I think it's too much. I want to get something like this for the closet, but for something trapped behind curtains, it's too much money.

You can by a cube system at target for about 20 bucks a cube. Not only are they cheep but they actually are made well. I use them in my closet for storing purses.

I also agree, DWR is not really in reach for me. I found a room divider from American Signature Furniture in hard wood that has the same look as the Cubits. Nine cubes with drawers and cabinets on the bottom for $499.http://www.ashome.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10101&catalogId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=22266&productId=58625&roomName=&parentCatId=22416&collectionId=11773
