While we're not exactly big fans of IKEA's furniture (particle board, its apparent disposable nature), we will make the trek to the big box store for a few items. One of them is the STRIPA Wall Shelf. We like the simple design, its lip, the fact that it's made of wood, and that multiples can be connected to each other. We're toying with the idea of using one as a landing strip, as well as in our bathroom for art and small items, and above our kitchen sink.
i just put up 2 in our living room as a picture shelf for smaller photos! we used wall anchors since it's hard to find studs in our plaster walls. the shelves themselves are somewhat flimsy (there is some deflection in the shelf with something heavy on it), but i think they are great for the price!
ikea also offers an aluminum version (klang for $9.99)...

You may not be able to order this (or MANY other IKEA items online) but I ordered from IKEA by phone once and the sales rep I talked with informed me that everything in their catalog can be ordered over the phone.
