Mini Bar Side Table at MoMA Store

8-22-08-minibar.jpg
When working with a small space, multi-purpose furniture can be key. This is especially so with things like mini bars, which often don't make it to the top of the list of priorities for a studio or one bedroom. This mini bar side table is right-sized in such a situation.

Made of oak and veneer, the lid completely conceals the table's boozy function when closed. When open, it turns into two convenient shelves.

How does this qualify as a table, exactly? Is that little shelf meant for accidentally kicking the glass off, or is that where you put the cat's g&t? It looks like a neat concept to begin with, but I'd make it a lot taller or turn it into something portable, meant to be placed on a kitchen counter or table top.

Levenger's has a small shallow console table that would make just as good a mini bar at about half the price. Of course, it wouldn't have the MOMA imprintur.

ohhhh man. i've been looking for something exactly like that forEVER! my roomates and i aren't really close so my solution to having friends over is to make a sitting area in my room with a mini bar. so much fun BUT there is no way i'm paying $450 for that. DIY project or can someone find an inexpensive version of it?
