I'm all for "humble as hero" but this one, um, no.

This one gets bookmarked in my "inspiration for when I can build a small cabin" folder. I love it.

Simple, and plain. I can't decide whether I love it or hate it.

I think they may have run out of Euros.

Interesting idea, but I think the plywood blends too much with the flooring. I think either a dark-gray stain or bright-color stain would make them much more appealing.

Oh sure, this looks wifty all brand new and conceptual, but unfinished plywood in a kitchen that actually gets used would be a nightmare - the spills, smoke, grease, etc. And it just seems like a huge fire hazard. I know kitchens are usually made of wood products but I doubt naked plywood around an oven would meet code anywhere.

I am sure the plywood is finished with a matt varnish type finish. They are pretty smart over there :-))

Looks too unfinished for my taste. Sorry...

This is hideous. It looks like they stopped construction in the middle and walked away from the site.

This sort of thing is what we have to look forward to as the hottest design trends?

Is the cat a reference to the tiger patterning of the plywood?

I'm a bit torn on this one. The wood is obviously gorgeous, but so many people have such a hard time seeing beyond the social status of a material. I just did naked plywood sliding shelves in my loft, and I can't quite get the poverty association from my childhood out of my head, despite the beautiful pattern.

It must be a social class thing. Maybe, I'm not sure, it's neat if you never actually lived in unfinished plywood because you had to - life after a hurricane or something?

Unsealed plywood would be nightmarish to keep clean in a kitchen environment. I don't care for the look enough to keep the plywood finish but it would paint up brilliantly in a high gloss. And the basic idea -- building modular plywood units on wheels -- that is genius. In a loft environment I would totally go for that. If you put a propane cooktop into a unit like that, in summer you could roll it out on the patio/deck/balcony for outdoor parties.

pretty elegant, maybe it's the casters, pillars, stainless steel tops, in the lofty space

I know I am being pedantic but I am 99% sure the plywood is finished - a clear matt finish would be no harder to keep clean than any other finished or painted wood. Plus it looks like the tops are all stainless steel.

Wow, when I was a kid my Uncle Jerry out in Hemet used to make everything he built end up looking like this! He sure was ahead of his time, I guess!

I like it - and it's probably alot more solid than particleboard cabinets from Home Depot or IKEA...
...the style certainly lends itself more to the 'Loft Asthetic' than the ubiquitous "Cherry" cabinets with Black granite counters.

The whole loft is like little island suspended vertically in space. Tres cool.

little islands. Sorry.

And with that as the concept, what else could the kitchen be?

Though I'm imagining a converstaion like this:
Honey, where's the corkscrew?
In the top left drawer next to the sink. Oh right, I moved the cabinets, today.

The concept is wonderful, the plywood needs a stain that doesnt match the floor and a high gloss finish.

People must be mad! It's beautiful. I love plywood, though, and I prefer unconventional uses of materials. This is high quality, low-formaldehyde marine plywood and it's as good as any other wood for structural and finishing purposes. I think this room is gorgeous and warm and I'd do my kitchen this way in a second. Especially the wheels. So useful.
