Slinks: Coming Home to an Empty House
n. (slingks) Surreptitious web links to other good sites

10-3-u haul.jpgNow that would really ruin your day. Some Windsor homeowners came home to an empty -- completely empty -- house after being out of town. Read more here. (Does anyone know what ever happened to that guy in San Francisco who had the same thing happen to him?) Via: Curbed SF

This happened to a friend of mine in Oakland - they were out of town and someone pulled up with a U-Haul and took most all of their furniture and computer equipment. The police weren't a lot of help, but she did some sleuthing on her own. Unfortunately, she never found any of her furniture or the guys who did it.

(shivers)...that's my total nightmare. Even though I have very good neighbors (only 3 total in my building!), I can imagine this happening to my loft. I just dropped $20K on new furnishings and electronic equipment. Everyone has warned me about getting insurance and setting up security measures.

This is why renter's insurance is a good idea if you rent. If you own your home your homeowner's insurance would cover a loss like this.

Isn't it amazing how much effort criminals will put into crime? Anyone who has ever moved themselves will know how hard it is.
I am sorry for the victims, though.
