Small Cool 2009: Chris's Arty DIY Abode
Teeny-tiny Division #16

thumbs up

Who Lives There: Chris
Location: Eugene, Oregon
Size: 300 square feet

What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home? I love my light up bench seating.. I used mainly recycled materials and they are actually really comfortable!

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your small home? I hated the door leading to the overpriced laundry machines... I disguised it with an art piece I made that was designed to be taken out places and photographed as "naturally occurring art", but I just keep it inside now and I like it that way.

What's that colorful tray/drawer thing in the third picture? I'd love something like that to organize art supplies in my workspace.

An aquarium! Kudos for showing it unapologetically.

I have to give props to Chris for trying, I really, really love the orange, brown & white art piece and your desk/table is rad. I just really like pic 2 and your repurposed seating is something you don't see often.

Just one question, how do you get into your bed, project yourself from the end?

I love all the fluid styles and art here. And that counter top/table thing in the 2nd picture... did you make that? The pattern on top is great.

Thank you for the comments, my place is all DIY and I probably spent around $120 on everything I used to decorate and make the art shown.. I am your typical starving artist/musician and just like having a nice place to hangout when the rain is pouring. I am extremely stoked I even got in and it is an honor.. But I really aspire to have a place like the top ranking contestants.. Peace!

Your headboard / nightstand / aquarium stand / dresser combo is clever. I love that quirky artwork above it as well.

I love the countertop.

I am planning a sort of decoupage thing for my coffee table, which your counter reminded me of.
