We first stumbled across Howard Street's foam superstore online, and slowly have discovered what a great resource it is. More than just a soft, hypo-allergenic substance upon which to rest your weary head, foam is good for insulation, sound-proofing, mattress topping, and costume-making.
When looking to re-make some old foam cushions for a rocking chair we bought on eBay, we discovered we could input measurements and grade preferences into FoamOrder.com's website, then drop off the fabric in person. FoamOrder.com then creates custom slip covers, using our fabric or their own limited selection.
The wide variety of foam shapes
FormOrder.com are foam experts. They sell all varieties of foam, from memory foam products to Tempur-Pedic mattresses, natural latex crib mattresses to costume-making and DIY upholstery supplies. They also have custom-made down products and industrial foam products (like acoustic foam), as well as a variety of foam-fitted furniture.
Portable Tri-fold Futon
The website isn't flashy, but it bursts at the seams with well-organized information about foam. You can also visit the store in person.

just a note: a significant number of people are allergic to latex, and it is often life threatening. if you're going to put an infant in a crib where there's latex, please FIRST CHECK to make sure your baby's not allergic.

I just received an extra firm latex mattress from them. It has been a few weeks and I am extremely pleased. So much less expensive than any other latex foam dealer. And their warranty is excellent- I can return my mattress for 15 years if it starts to sag at all for a new mattress.
Highly recommend.

I have ordered from foamorder several times over the years, and I've had family members order from them after sleeping on their mattresses while visiting me. They have every possible firmness and grade, and when I call for advice they are so helpful. For one bench, I ordered a foam that was labeled as "rigid" and it really is - perfect for what I needed but I'm glad they talked me out of it for my bed.
Great selection, perfect for custom measurements and unusual shapes. They are tied for my favorite online store ever, and I'll definitely order from them again.
I'm curious to hear if anyone has any experience with their custom-sewn covers, since they offer this as well.

Hillde, just curious, with whom are they tied for your favorite online store?
I think I need some foam!

We had custom covers sewn by Foamorder for a piece of foam we ordered from them (for a built in bench). We supplied the fabric (which we bought from Britex), and they custom sewed it to fit the foam. They did excellent work! The covers turned out really nicely! Not cheap though, as I remember, but top notch work.

I have a chest bed and use the tri-fold foam instead of the bulky futon mattress it came with. I love it, it is comfortable and easy to manage when I open my bed every night. Plus I take off the custom cover every month and wash it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Griffin, my tied-for-first-favorite is lightingdirect.com.
Great service, both online and when I've called. Fast delivery. The selection is good (not amazing, but very good). Prices are excellent (I shopped around other sites for specific items and didn't find prices lower anywhere) and shipping is free for anything over $50.
(Plus, I've never received anything from lightingdirect that was not represented accurately. Not the case with five rivers lighting - they had a fixture incorrectly identifed by wattage and bulb type, and I had ordered based on that information.)
