One Last Summer Escape?

8-28-survey.jpg

Although we don't have a funky modern beach house to which we can go for Labor Day, we still plan to do our own little escape. . .by staying off the computer for three days, doing nothing more strenuous than reading a good book, watching a good movie, taking our dog to the beach.

We're wondering if you're planning an escape. Or are you, like us, staying home?

i was all set for a russian river rental this weekend with nine friends. booked a place over a week ago, had a contract, sent a check. then today they tell us OOPS! computer error. that place was already booked and you are s.o.l. i was fuming and now i'm just resigned to trying to enjoy another bbq-intensive labor day weekend.

We will be painting accent walls at the new apartment. My new plan is to use back issues of the Wall Street Journal to make templates of all the furniture before we move, so we can see what'll actually fit.

Smart idea Wende! If you need more newspaper I have lots, although then you'd have to come to SF to get it!

Oh jeez! I didn't even realize it was the long weekend. That snuck up pretty darn fast.

We're going to a fun sounding theme wedding on Saturday, and I'm spending the rest of the weekend frantically quilting, hoping to get a gift done on time for a wedding the weekend afterwards. Should be fun!

I am moving into a 1-bedroom from a 160-ish sq. ft. studio. I also imagine I'll be doing a lot of painting, sweating, complaining, and beer breaks.

We just got back from our vacation on the Gulf coast so we're looking forward to staying home, relaxing, and not traveling anywhere.

Squiggle, that sucks. I was in that area last weekend and it was lovely. I hope you get to go soon.

I'll be sailing in the Bay on Sunday - otherwise soaking up the intense heat of Sacramento the rest of the weekend.

Squiggle....what a bummer!

Customarily I like to stay close to home on holiday weekends. However, my boyfriend and I are heading to Fort Bragg (where I grew up) and then Bodega Bay.

I'm looking forward to showing him around my old stomping grounds and escaping the Sacramento heat!
