4-18-akta1.jpgWe were feeling a little frantic this morning -- so much to do, so little time -- and then we received an email from AKTA. We love Scandinavian interiors because they're always so light and bright and simple and calm... and just looking at their lovely Swedish furniture actually calmed us down and made us feel that all is right with the world.

AKTA's wood furniture is handmade in Sweden, and there's a nice mix of traditional and modern.

When the dollar improves -- or we win the lottery, or we move to London -- we'll be checking out their furniture in person, in a flash.

That's an unexpected idea in the dining room picture: Rugs around the table and chairs instead of underneath. Not only is interesting to look at, it reduces the likelihood of food and drink spilling on the carpet. I'll file this idea away . . . in case I ever have a dining room.

Beautiful. There are retailers in NY and WA for many of the same pieces here:

Actually, rugs around the perimeter of the room is very common in most Scandinavian homes. Check out Carl Larsson's illustrations.
