Marimekko Tray Tables

10-7-07marimekkoma.jpgAt Apartment Therapy, we're big fans of Finnish textile company Marimekko. Their bold use of color and their distinctive patterns always have us coming back for more. So, imagine our delight when we found out they had taken their popular fabric patterns and applied them to these tray tables.

10-7-08tablesetc.jpgYou can buy the trays or the stand separately, but if you want the entire package it'll run you $302. The collapsible stand is in stainless steel, height 52.5 cm, and diameter 65 cm.

I adore Marimekko, but I'm a little disappointed in the price of these. I have a 54' square Unikko wall hanging that I bought from Textile Arts for $95. Obviously the material is different, but it still seems a little silly to me that a 25' diameter table is 3 times that.

These are truly awesome. Unfortunately, too expensive.

I agree CourtneyinTampa. But why have a famous name if you can't exploit it and the people who have more cash than common sense? As one of those people I invested in some Marimekko linens and quickly became bored with them. I love the trays, but the novelty would soon wear off. They'd quickly become passe and end up in the donate box. But if you have tons of dough, what the heck? It's only money; they'll print more.
