Spafford Table

We recently considered bidding on a small apartment with no diningroom. The kitchen was an adequate size, but the placement of cabinets, appliances, windows and doors would have made it impossible to fit anything but the smallest table.

We considered the possibilities: a tiny kitchen table or a tiny kitchen table that becomes a big table?

If we were to live in this space (and we ultimately didn't bid, but that's another story), we'd go with a tiny table that becomes a big table, and just move it into the livingroom for holidays and parties.

The solid Appalachian black cherry Spafford Drop-Leaf Table would have fit the bill: folded down it's a mere 31.75"l x 42"w x 30"h and seats two. With the addition of two center leaves it seats eight, which is remarkable. (There's an in-between configuration that uses just one leaf and looks like it'll seat six.) The styling is transitional but simple enough to mix well in most environments, and we like the gently tapering legs, which add a little flair.
