Usame Table

2006_09_15_usame.jpgLucite tables are a great decocrating trick: they provide utility without adding visual bulk to a room. But they usually don't add much else.

So Patricia Urquiola's polycarbonate Usame Table succeeds on several counts: it provides a surface for a drink and a pocket for books and magazines. And what clinches it for us is the delicate Deco-esque etched surface. A sprinkling of light-catching gingko leaves make this table a real thing of beauty.

Usame is available at the SF MOMA Design Store, and is on sale right now for $150.

I have a lucite coffee table that I love. It's similar to this one though I got mine at a flea market. I wonder, does anyone know how to remove fine scratches? I understand there are some products and techniques one with lucite should know about. Thanks

Macguire's makes a product that you can use to clean and polish the face shield on a motorcycle helmet. I would probably see if that works. Or ask someone from a plastic store, such as Hastings Plastics in Los Angeles (located I believe on Pico Blvd.)
good luck!
