We admit we're boring. (Although we prefer to think that we just have simple tastes.) We don't usually like patterns on our dinnerware and our linens. But there's something about the de Young Leaves Tableware that's appealing.
It could be the freshness and simplicity of the design. Or that the placemats and napkins are made of linen. Or that the cup, plates, bowl, and bud vase are silk-screened porcelain. Or it could be that it's made for the de Young by local designer Lotta Jansdotter -- and we're a little melancholy because she's in the process of moving from SF to Brooklyn.

Even one piece could be great on a table...
SHe's moving? Why?
say it ain't so! is it for business reasons - heading to the hub of things?
Lotta's website says:
The time have finally come:
Lotta Jansdotter is moving to Brooklyn, New York.
After 10 splendid and marvelous years in San Francisco
it is time to start the new chapter in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.
Our San Francisco office and shop will be open until end of June. We close our doors for the month of July to pack things up and head east. Once we have landed in our new location ( it has an open fireplace !!) we would love a visit.
We will keep you up dated !
I don't just have plain white dinnerware. I have clear dishes and bowls so that's really anti-pattern. But I like the Blind Earl pattern which is over the top in its leafiness.
As the store is right across the street from my house I can report that it's over for SF, folks. They had their last clearance this weekend (where I picked up some good, but sad, deals). I didn't ask why she was going, as I was afraid I might start on one of my "why SF is so much better than Brookyln" speeches! I'll definitely miss having the store right across the street, thank goodness for the internet.
