Lace Etched in Stainless Steel from Mo Man Tai

100609momantai1.jpgDutch designers Mo Man Tai have produced some fun products with laser-cut techniques in the past, but this new line of etched stainless steel designs is positively stunning. The tables in the photo are all secondhand discards brought back to life with a plate of stainless steel etched with a delicate lace pattern...

Traditional Dutch lace designs are laser-etched onto stainless steel for coasters, placemats, and even votive luminaria, which give off a gorgeously intricate shadow. Swoon! We love the contrast of the old-fashioned lacework with the sleek and edgy steel surface.

The products will be shown for the first time at the upcoming Dutch Design Week this month. We can't imagine that they won't eventually make it to the marketplace. Let's hope!

Gorgeous pairing! I love that they're spiffing up an old piece. Also like the off-centeredness of some of the designs.

Those are gorgeous- definitely not your grandma's doilies.

It does irk me that the patterns aren't centered on the tables though. I would constantly want to straighten them!
