Magma Vacuum Jug

4-24-magma.jpgWe can't remember where we first saw the Magma vacuum jug. The triangular shape and red color immediately caught our attention.

Designed by Francis Cayouette for Normann Copenhagen, the Magma is made of polycarbonate with a rubber coating and a stainless steel spout. The shape just makes sense. As Francis Cayouette explains, "I made a simple thermo jug with a minimum of visual, technical and functional aspects - no handles; just grab the vacuum jug where it fits your hand best."

The 1-liter Magma also comes in black, brown, and grey. It sells for $85 at AmbienteDirect, and is also available on several British websites, including Panik-Design and Pedlars.

Love the jug. The name calls to mind Dr. Evil in Austin Powers so clearly...

"You know, Scott. I've been a frickin' evil doctor for 30 frickin' years, OK? Cut me some "frickin'" slack. You forget Scott. We're in a volcano. We're surrounded by liquid hot magma".

hmm, I agree it looks nice, but judging from the pictures it just doesn't seem like it would work that well for one-handed pouring, unless you had really large hands.
