These remind me of my Grandma's 1950s pressed glass Ladies' Snack sets. I have them now. Mine are a little more elegant and a little less sturdy. This update is (arguably) more functional but lacks the panache of the original.
Seeing this, I'm going to pull them out and start using them regularly as you're suggeting here. I love them and it's a great idea on how to make them functional and not just clutter (I'd been debating getting rid of them). How fun!
