The Gallery: Luke Feldman

Sure, there are plenty of folks out there making vinyl adhesives these days. But those by San Francisco-based Luke Feldman are limited-edition, signed works of art. In addition to the decals, his collection — called SKAFFS — includes giclee prints and skatedecks.

"I have always enjoyed the challenge of adapting my art to different mediums and having the opportunity to turn my illustrations into wall decals and skatedecks was one of these cool challenges," said Feldman. "In 2006, I collaborated with Pop Cling to create the SKAFFS vinyl adhesive line. This cool concept of 'adhesive-backed art' gives consumers an opportunity to revive any smooth surface (wall, car, table, etc.) with minimal effort and at a minimal fee."

Although you really can skate with these decks, we personally would hang 'em up on a wall as adornment. We admit, they may be a bit risqué for some households — but we think it's such a neat idea, we couldn't resist posting about them.

Feldman's inspiration? "Whether it be a finished illustration, animation or soundtrack, watching each individual art piece evolve to a finished piece inspires me to continue designing," he said. "My pieces are based on fantastical adaptations of past and current experiences."
