073109 anna ura1.jpgThey say that getting there is half the fun of a trip, so for our last day of Escapes month we think these paintings by Anna Ura are quite fitting. Entitled, Before, the series is based on photos and video stills taken while traveling...

 
 

073109 annaura 2.jpgHowever the images aren't of the final destination, but instead are taken during the time spent between locations. As someone whose memory is filled with blurry views from train and car windows, we can appreciate Ura's interest in capturing those moments. You can see some of the artist's work online at The Beholder, or stop by Four Barrel Coffee in the Mission on August 7 from 6 to 8pm for the opening of her new show. These are great. The one of scenery with raindrops on a window in the foreground is awesome. I love road trips and there's something beautifully nostalgic about that one.
