I like it, but not with that cabinet color.

oh my god. if that was in my kitchen, I would have more reasons to go the take out route. that is pretty hideous.

If the cabinets and countertops were black, or stainless, it could be cool. But there's too much going on in that room.

does not really fit with the rest of the kitchen, but could be real fun.

I don't like it one bit but, if you're going to go that route, the entire kitchen needs to be more glammed up -black granite countertop, jewel-toned cabinets, etc. Then I'd respect it as a strong statement.

I like it, but I agree that it doesn't seem to go with the cabinets or counter. It's a little Liberace, but in the right context, it could be fun.

Someone obviously put alot of time and thought into this...
...but sadly it will be a "negative" when it comes time to sell.

I like it, but I totally agree that the counter and the cabinets do not match it at all. They should have gone all out with it.

Yeah....mayyyyyybe with sleek black countertops, frosted glass cabinets with stainless accents. But here, ick.

wow thats gaudy... and i agree it doesnt look right with the cabinets and granite. i prefer something more simple backsplashes.

Wow, that is one of the most nonfunctional things I have ever seen in a kitchen. I assume these people have servants, or never use their kitchen.

What's up with show kitchens? I don't get it at all.

It's a little over the top but it amuses me. I'd like to see something similar done in a more limited pallette to let the texture be the statement. It would be an interesting way to use found/recycled materials like tumbled glass.

I love the idea! I'm pretending the color choices were better and voting Hot! It would be really really cool if they'd picked mostly neutrals (to match the cabinets and countertop) with an accent color. Done in golds and greens this would be stunning.

It's not my tastes, but I could imagine it would look a hell of a lot better than it does if the other material choices were different- i.e. cabinets, counters...basically everything- think it needs a more organic environment...

Kudos to the owner for trying to be unique, but please hand her a pair of special help-me-coordinate-colors goggles. Just plain silver baubles would have been more than enough for a dramatic effect without the level of tackiness this atrocity exudes.

I kind of like the idea of it, so I voted "hot" -- but I agree that it's a bit garish with those colors and doesn't go with the existing cabinets and countertop.

But I like it for itself.

I like the pattern and texture, but it would look much better with softer colors that complemented the cabinets. A range of whites and taupes would have fit in, mixed in with muted blues and greens to make it look like water, or muted reds and oranges to make it it look like fire coming off of the stove.

It's a shiny mosaic. I disagree with the suggestions of "all out." It would look super-disco-fugly in a sleek black lacquer kitchen. Maybe the wood is the wrong color or shape, but it needs to find the right countertop and cabinet mates for a delicate beaded bohemian look.

it's not so much the way it looks (I can't decide) but that it would provide ann sorts of places to collect the grease spatters that might happen if that stove were ever used.

I love it. The amount of detail pulls you in to examine it so you don't even notice the surroundings, which is the point of ART, right? It's in an unexpected place and took a LOT of time to create, it definitely gets two thumbs up. It's just too bad they can't take it with them if they move!!

I really *want* to like it. The colors and the materials appeal to a Stevie Nicks/Enya/Cocteau Twins/belly-dance costume aesthetic I kinda favored in the 90s, but I can't figure where the heck I'd be willing to see it in my home. Ever.

Oh, and it COMPLETELY fails in combination with the counters and cabinets, but they're rather "meh" anyhow. Wonder what the rest of the home looks like.

I actually like it, just not in those colors. I would get rid of the black, maybe add more pastels like blue, green, and yellow. With the right colors, it could look like a waterfall.

Liza Minelli's backsplash? Maybe better in a bathroom, not the kitch. Yes, I agree, it is very Beadazzled fabulous, like Nan's fancy going out to the dinner theater sweater which is why I'm finding it so endearing!...I just looked at it again, and I'm signing out because it's actually growing on me!
