We're big fans of pop culture and sharing the stories behind the items we use to decorate the home. So imagine our excitement when we stumbled across these stunning metal tiles from K & K Forgeworks, inspired by favorites like Joy Division and Blade Runner. You can see the influences, right?
Okay, so maybe they're a bit subtle, but we'll help you out. Below is the Bladerunner tile, which includes a recurring motif as spotted in the 1982 cult classic flick.

And can you spot the homage to cover art from 1979's "Unknown Pleasures" in the Joy Division tile below?

The original? An encyclopedia's black and white rendering of 100 successive pulses from the first pulsar discovered.
Pop culture or no, we like the look of the forged steel for a backsplash or inset, though Portland's K & K also offers everything from knobs to knives crafted from the same materials.
Tiles start at $25 for 4" x 4" and are available via the company's website.

Please. I'm so tired of "hip" cultural references being attached to products. If the idea doesn't stand on its own in a design idea, then it needs to be further developed. Clever gets old fast.
