TileVault: Small Sparkly Granite Squares

10-16-tilevault1.jpgWhat: Arches of small sparkly granite squares set into a field of otherwise rather uninteresting stone flooring.
Where: Westfield San Francisco Centre, outside the first floor entrance of Bloomingdale's
When: Photos taken Wednesday, October 15, 2008
Why: We first assumed the sparkle had to be coming from either metallic or glass tiles, but closer inspection revealed it to be polished stone. A great way to bring a little bit of magic into what would have otherwise been a boring floor - we can see a similar idea working well in a residential setting.

Bring on the sparkle! These would look really nice in a bathroom. I've always liked sparkly concrete sidewalks as well.

I love how water-y those tiles can look from certain angles. Westfield has served as little more than my shortcut between market and mission, but those gorgeous tiles got me to take long, deliberate look at the floors for the first time ever.

So where can you get these tiles? Or what are some tile options that are similar? Does anyone know what price they might run?

I've seen those before somewhere else and I cannot, for the life of me, remember where!!! I would love to have that as a backsplash in the kitchen... Imagine having a candle-pilar sitting near it, ahhh beautiful!

hah, Calgon... take me away?! :D
