Small Wooden Tape Measure

4-10-tapemeasure.jpg

We've carried a tape measure in our bag for years, and we've used it so much that its plastic case is mangled and its cloth tape is stretched out. Seeing this lovely small wooden tape measure has made us realize the error of our ways. How great is it when such a practical, utilitarian object is also a thing of beauty?

I thought I was the only one who carried a measuring tape everywhere! Hub thought I was nuts until I whipped it out one afternoon at an antique store and saved us from a very expensive mistake.

That is a thing of beauty, but I'd be afraid of ruining it, knocking around my bag--whereas I don't worry about the little plastic one I currently have.

I was given a small zippo tape measure for xmas a while back and it's so handy. While not as beautiful as this wooden one (drool!) I don't worry about hurting it either.

I have a sterling silver measuring tape that is on a keychain from tiffanys that i got as a graduation gift from architecture school years ago. I think it is my favorite and most practical gift I've ever received and it's BEAUTIFUL; i get tons of compliments on it and it's developed a beautiful patina with age. Plus I remember my friend who gave it to me engraved everytime I use it even though we live many miles apart. For $120 ( current price ) it's totally worth it!
