Billed as "the world's handiest," never before would we have considered spending over a hundred bucks on a ladder. Though we have been caught in a jam without one before, storing a full-size ladder in our tiny space is out of the question. This would come right in handy.

That's pretty darned brilliant...
...now they just need to do an A-Frame version and they'd have "The World's Perfect Ladder".
(which would work well for painting the ceilings above staircases...)

The only problem with telescoping ladders is that there are many cases of people seriously injuring their fingers when collapsing these -- at least with all of the earlier designs.
Apparently the newer ones have a safety feature to reduce this risk, but I would caution anyone thinking of buying one to ensure that it has such a safety feature, if not for yourself, then for family members or others who might use it.

I saw a video on Fail Blog recently taken from a Home Shopping Network broadcast selling these guys. The demonstrator took a nasty fall right on air.

I attempted to close one of these at the hardware store one day and almost took off on of my fingers. Blood everywhere --- not a good selling point for me.

I was just going to buy this ladder from Amazon. I had it in my 'shopping cart' and everything. Then I watched the You Tube video posted above. Uh, no thanks, this thing looks like a death trap.
