Best Clip Lights and Clamp Lights

We love clip lights because they take up such little space. Although we do covet the Tolomeo, our current favorite is actually one of the cheapest lights around -- the simple aluminum clamp lamp you can buy at the local hardware store for about 10 bucks (shown below the jump in AB Chao's house). Here's our list of the best clip lights and clamp lights:

I moved from New York to London in January. In the states, I always lit my place with basic clip lamps from home depot. I have been searching London for a replacement, both in terms of style and value. I have tried both B&Q and homebase but nobody seems to know what I'm talking about when I try and ask for them. Any suggestions of where to get the basic shop/clip, as in the bookcase photo above, in the UK?

Fixed links -- thanks, NathanSE. (I knew I was tired, but not *that* tired.)

The problem with clip lights is the cords. I tried to do this with a bookcase, but the bookcase is also serving as a room divider, so the cord had to run along the bookcase to the wall and then down the wall and along it for a few feet to the outlet. Not that I've seen any better solutions elsewhere...

Is it a fire hazard to paint a cord for a light like this?
