Ikea has new chair/dining room set that's pretty compact. Not sure what the name is, but it's a set of curved L shapes around a rounded-off square table.

I bought the Essex side chairs from Scandinavian Designs and I really love them. They look much better in person than they do in the pictures. They are really sleek and modern and reasonably priced as well.

I have the Bellini chairs at my dining table (which is in my living room). Not only do they look light, they ARE light, which makes them easy to get out of the way. And the price point around 100 bucks hits the sweet spot between Ikea and the higher end stuff.
