DWR Airstream

4-30-airstream.jpg

We've always wanted to live in an Airstream. So we got very excited when we learned that DWR is collaborating with Airstream on a 16-foot trailer.

San Francisco architect Christopher Deam is in charge of the project. The Airstream for modernists will have a Nelson Ball Clock, a flat-screen TV, a dinette with cushions covered in Paul Smith fabric . . .and a $49,066 price tag.

Available in early June through DWR and Airstream dealers.

OMG, I've always wanted an Airstream. Guess I would have to get a vehicle first.

I hate to be a killjoy, but we bought a 2003 International 22'
(http://www.airstream.com/product_line/travel_trailers/intccd_home.html) and it was a huge disappointment. It was the third airstream we owned (two previous vintage trailers, one lost to a very large tree limb). The quality was not that of previous years. The newer ones are not made well at all. Ours literally "shook apart" while travelling down the road. It was taken to the dealer (not a convenient process) several times over the year we had it and the warranty was not honored by Airstream. It was a great big hassle. While the contemporary design was wonderful, we just were so unhappy with the craftsmanship we sold it, bought a 1986 trailer and using the money from the sale to re-do it. I am glad to see these trailers back in production but disappointed in the actual product. Maybe it is just to expensive to make them as they did previously.
