Name: Jason
Location: The family cottage on Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada
Description: My family never had a cottage. No summer house, no boat, no guest quarters, no jet skis. We took road trips to Seaworld and Buffalo for cheap shopping back in the early-90s. My partner’s family has the summer-getaway places. When I started going to their cottage with him five years ago, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it...

...Just to get out of the city for a few days, to be quiet, to sit and read a book. To relax by the water and drink mojitos. The whole experience taught me to slow down and simplify. It brought us closer to his family. It was the first place I discovered how much I like to cook. My partner’s father died last fall and the cottage is about to go on the market. The end of an era.

Thanks, Jason!

Thanks, Poptart.
It's hard to go back, for sure. Over the years it's becoming more and more obvious that we want to live that quiet life. We're thinking of throwing it all away in the Cayman Islands.

Similar scenes can be had by most Torontonians who can leave work Friday night for a little drive to something like this (if not exactly this since Georgian Bay is a little far).

Hey Bo, it's true.
Georgian Bay is huge, so there are parts too far to reach for just a weekend. We're just 2 hours 15 from here and tend to leave late Saturday night and stay until Tuesday (our work schedules allow this traffic-avoiding-method.)
