Description: Not exactly a summer getaway (fall here, spring there) to Southern Africa. Teri! How on earth did you do this? I'm so tempted to pack up a tent right now....did you plan it yourself or go through a company? Details, please!!

I've been to South Africa many times and absolutely love it, but tent camping? You are braver than I am. I stay at 5-star hotels and resorts and will never forget the morning there was a black mamba curled up right outside our door. Closest I think I've ever come to heart failure. Had I been in a tent I think I would have had that heart attack.

I went through a company. Here's the link to the trip: http://www.gapadventures.com/tour/DCF (hope it works . . .) The camping was all in very secure campgrounds. The people were fenced in, gates locked at sunset and the animals roamed at large. I loved that part. Not that mambas couldn't get in if they wanted to. Maybe we were simply lucky in not tripping over any -- that certainly would have given me heart failure. Beesknees, I'd go back in a heartbeat. Just let me know when we're leaving!
