Tree Coat Rack from West Elm

10-6-08wetree.jpgWe're big fans of tree coat racks, so we're always excited when a new one comes out. Imagine our delight when we found this tree coat rack in West Elm's New section on their website. We love that it looks like metal, even though it's wood. Take a loop at a close-up, after the jump!

10-6-08weext.jpgBlack-finished hardwood. Assembly required. 10"sq x 71"h. The price? $199.

Just in time! I need an attractive standing coat rack. Does anyone have any other (possibly cheaper?) alternatives?

I'm wondering: When IS the time to spend $200 on a coat rack? I've long wanted a branch-shaped coat rack and this one is gorgeous. But I'm still a miser.

Never cared much for coat racks - They look sloppy and if you put too many heavy coats on one side and they tend to fall over.

Hooks on a wall are generally less expensive and work just as well if not better IMO.

I'm a coat rack fan myself. I have one in the bedroom for change of clothes - the key here is not to let it be a clothes pile, but a working piece. I also have one in the guest room, and my guests have often mentioned how they appreciate its use. I have also, like bepsf mentioned, used hooks - the over the door kind. They do work at least as well - if not better - IMO. And take up less space. I think I just like coat racks as a piece of furniture.

It's "Web site" not "website."

The Internet and the World Wide Web are capitalized. Also, it's a site on the Web, hence Web site...not website.

TKS GHB 4 THA STFU!

$299 is definitely better than this one by hansgrohe:

(of course this is a towel rack but that's what I'll most likely be getting this one from West Elm for when it goes on sale)

I'm soooooooo disappointed - this item is sold out!!!

I've written to West Elm to ask about any possibility of future production.

If you love (and want) this item, please write to them:

Thanks!

It seems like no one has commented in awhile, but do you think this coat rack would go well with a cabinet like this:

?

Or is all that wood in one area too much?
