7-14-08-collective-logo.jpgCollective is one of those places that we almost don't want to spread the word too far about, because it's such a choice destination for immaculately restored and maintained vintage Danish pieces. Of course, if you've strolled along historic Ballard Avenue, you know it well.

Having recently changed location from their previous, gigantic brick-walled space just a few doors down, the new, smaller storefront is a well-curated showroom of a new and vintage housewares. Plover bedding and faux-Persian patterned sisal rugs accent beautiful casegoods, chairs and tables with the telltale and coveted vintage patina.

Owner Gail Miller is serious about sustainability, and every item that is not vintage (the most fun way to recycle) has been carefully chosen for the most healthful and responsibly sourced materials. The mix makes for a style that is at once organic and funky.

Remember the great story behind this type-block display?

In addition to the store on Ballard Avenue, Collective has a warehouse a few blocks away one can peruse for items that didn't make it into the main store display. It's open to public on weekends only:
